The Atherton Tablelands - A Cooke's Tour - Feb 21, 2010
While the skies on Saturday were looking rather ominous, Squeaker's words to the weather gods seem to have paid off with Sunday dawning with (almost) crystal clear skies.
At the conclusion of the usual leisurely breakfast and coffee at Toscas a quick dash to the Fruit Bat (picking up Cam & Co. along the way...) to form up for the run.
After the obligatory happy snaps all headed off for a clear run to Mt Uncle Distillery.

We arrived just in time to beat the 'cyclists' and scarf down some quick coffees and shakes before forming up for the traditional Cruise Class Photo (somehow managing to block off the entrance to the distillery
).
After everyone seemed to have exhausted all possible angles we again mounted up.
Clear skies and quiet roads welcomed us on the scenic drive from Walkamin to sleepy Tolga on the outskirts of Atherton and right through to Yungaburra.
Seemingly the streets had been prepared for us with most driving straight into parks (except Cam - man where did you go???).
The hungry & thirsty horde descended upon the Yungaburra Pub - from the look of it we managed to double their usual Sunday Lunch trading... After a brief(???) delay the masses were 'watered' and fed accompanied by much spirited conversation.
From here we again mounted up and split into the boring (Kuranda Range), the adventurous (Gillies Range) and the die hard line haulers (Palmerston Range), this is where I left off the cruise as a member of the boring and headed home after a thoroughly enjoyable day catching up with friends both old and new.
Hope to see you all on the next Cruise, 'til then clear skies and empty roads.
