Cooktown Cruise 2012 - Interested??

Postby Tuff-ZC » January 20th, 2012, 5:55 pm

I was approached in Cairns by the Secretary of the Cooktown RSL about the club doing a cruise to Cooktown.

Today I received the email below.

What do we all think about doing an overnighter to Cooktown?

Likely dates are:
April 1
April 15
May 6
May 20
October 21
November 4
November 18

Maybe the Townsville crew would like to head up again?

I've asked Brenda about accommodation prices and a meal deal and will post her reply here when it comes back.

Hello Les,

Jim Faye from Cooktown RSL mentioned that the club might be interested in coming to Cooktown for a weekend later this year. We would love to have you up here and can accommodate up to 21 in the hotel plus we have a block of land at the back of the hotel which you could use as a camping ground and use the hotel facilities.

We have a great beer garden which is perfect for club outings.

We would be pleased to organise Jim's band 'Rough n Ready' to play at the hotel, probably starting late afternoon to cater for families.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Regards

This Just In From Brenda:

Good Morning Les,

April/May ( May is the best time) is a good time to visit Cooktown, Not too hot and nice and green after the rains.
If you were to drive up here, we can provide pub accommodation for 23 people, shared bathroom facilities.
We also have a large lock up area behind the hotel where you could park probably 15-20 cars, and if more they can be parked on the block at the back of the hotel.
If you were to book most of the accommodation we could do bed & full cooked breakfast for $35 per head.
As mentioned in my previous email, we also have a large empty block of land at the back of the hotel which could be used for camping, free of charge, if you would like, and in that case we could provide a full cooked breakfast for $12.50 per head.
Evening meals, we can do 2 courses for $25 or 1 course for $18.

We will provide entertainment on the Saturday night, and for those of you who are interested we have raffles at the pub every Saturday afternoon from 12.30pm.

The same deal would apply for Oct/November.

I hope we can entice your club up here this year so that you can experience our good old fashion country hospitality.

Kind Regards
Brenda Krop

What is a "TE50" you ask ....... "well" you know what a GT is - this was the prototype they used for making the GT - Ford took the TE50 and softened it up for the Sunday drivers and called it a "GT"... lol
