The Springmount Drag Racing Association has lodged an application with council for the construction of a drag strip on the Atherton Tablelands, they are in the process of fore filling supplementary information requirements, which council has requested. Club Delegates have met with council in the lead up to this happening with the outlook being positive, as you can imagine with a project of this size there has/is a lot of regulatory paperwork which has to be done.

Which is good news, as some local motorsport is a good thing!

They will also be at the swap meet and warbirds, they are chasing members who are willing to sign up and show that the support is out there, so if you are willing (Iknow I am) grab a form and show some support.

Ps also want peoples opinion on whether the club should maybe donate some funds or try and organise a fundraiser for them or a working bee or what do people think?

Good News!

SDRA Presidents Update 17th March 2010.

Hello Members of the Springmount Drag Racing Association.

GOOD NEWS

We have had verbal approval from the Council today at their planning meeting.

We should receive the written approval within the next 2-5 working days. I would personally like to thank everyone who has helped in getting this to fruition.

Once we receive the written approval; we will be undertaking the following actions.

Finalisation of the lease agreement.

Letter of Authority supporting the proposal

from the Queensland Police Force.

Funding Proposals.

Organisational development and planning.

Expression of interest for ANDRA Approval.

Detailed project plan, including costings.

Increase in Club activities and events.

We have our approval from Council

We will continue to keep members informed of the progress, however if you have any enquiries or concerns; please EMAIL the Springmount Drag Racing Association via our Contacts Page on the Web Site.

We ask that no one contact the council as all correspondence between the Tablelands Regional Council and Springmount Drag Racing Association is the responsibility of the Executive Committee.

The Club will be holding an open forum to discuss the details in the not to distant future.

Please keep watching for details
